John Phifer Marrs’s popular book from Gibbs – Smith, “Interiors for Collectors”, was released in September 2021 to great acclaim. “Interiors for Collectors” showcases John’s specialty - working with clients who collect - to produce beautiful, curated interiors. John’s work reflects his southern roots and combines a sense of the past with comfort and convenience. Funny and irreverent, with a "Saturday Night Live" sense of humor, John has been very busy entertaining his A-list clients and creating magical interiors in Texas, across the the United States, and in Europe, and Central America. His projects include major residences, vacation homes, executive offices and even the official residence of a United States Ambassador.

John is a sought-after speaker, panelist, and MC. In August 2023, John gave a tour of his Dallas home in an episode of the “Homeworthy” YouTube channel. John’s work has been regularly featured in local and national publications including "Texas Home and Living," "Better Homes and Gardens," "Southern Accents," "Traditional Home" and the venerable "Architectural Digest."  A frequent guest lecturer, traveler, and collector, John's own homes in Dallas and Eureka Springs were featured in the coffee table book "Designers Here and There-Inside the City and Country Homes of America's Top Decorators." John is a long time supporter of the design-based charity Dwell with Dignity, which furnishes homes for families who have gotten back on their feet after economic setback. In 2015 John was humbled to be named honorary chair of Thrift Studio, Dwell with Dignity’s annual fundraiser. In 2014 "DMagazine" named him one of "The Dallas Dozen" - a salute to the twelve most important players in the city.

John's many leadership roles include past Texas Chapter President of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and past Chairman of the ASID Dallas Association. After two terms on their Professional Advisory Board, John currently serves on the Capital Campaign Committee for the Fay Jones School of Architecture, where he also enjoys mentoring interior design students. In 2012, John was named “Ambassador of the Ozarks,” an honor given to a distinguished person with a connection to the region. John is one of the few North Texas designers to be named a “D-Home” Best Designer for 20 years running. In November of 2023, John was officially inducted to the inaugural class of the “D-Home Hall of Fame.” He has participated in numerous Dallas Charity Show Houses and has served as the co-chairman of the Beaux Arts' Decorative Arts Auction for the Dallas Museum of Art. 

 John’s education includes post-graduate studies in the U.S., as well as in the European Program at the Parsons School of Design in both Paris and Rome. He is an accredited interior designer, having successfully completed the NCIDQ Examination, and is a registered interior designer in the state of Texas.
